What If More Waste Disposal Avoided Ecological Damage?
Reuse, Reduce, Repro! rePRO is the result of my Futurecasting exploration where I tackled the inevitable problem of unsustainable metropolis waste. Through research, feedback, and multiple iterations, rePRO came into existence using the narrative-based process below.
Empathize and Personify
Understanding what problem I am solving begins with who the problem is addressing (In my case, city dwellers around the US). Researching behaviors behind the problem led me to the huge “Why Factor,” leading me in a direction I believed would create a solution for the future.
Defining the Scope
How the problem will scale in the future not only helps to understand the problem more but the solution. New opportunities and challenges helped shape rePRO into becoming a self-sufficient waste disposal not yet possible but influenced by today’s technologies.
Ideation and Prototypes
Sketching out multiple possible solutions helped me narrow down what is a priority. Ideally, it would reduce the public waste footprint to almost zero ecological damage output. To achieve this I aimed to create something that intercepted waste in private and public spaces conveniently.
Final prototype models were then created in Unreal Engine.

The Happy Ending
At the end of this Futurecasting Sprint rePRO can be found in every municipal city. By combining microbots and biotechnology, rePRO has completely changed the flow of waste and future generations like our persona Minnie can live knowing their world is greener.
